The first video launched shows how people could collaboration and share information. It has striking visual interaction, with plenty of object manipulations and contextual menu navigation. This results in clean user interface allowing user to focus on information and task at hand. The information could also be spatially and temporally organized, allowing user to “see” their relationships and assign meaning to them. Such organization is essential during collaboration process, where user often has to quickly locate, share and manipulate information.
What’s interesting from the Aurora concept above lies in the idea and interaction design trend identified: contextual awareness (more intelligent), natural user interaction (more intuitive), continuity (more portable), and multi-user application (more social).
Successful design arouses desire… This also involves questioning what is believed to be set in stone. Does a car roof really have to rest on pillars and be bordered by windows? Do all functions have to be visible at all times, even when they are not needed? How many personalization options does my car offer? Are there any possible alternatives to the rigid body shell made of steel or plastic?… It is one of the GINA principles to challenge existing solutions in order to broaden the context, thus extending the scope of possibilities for customers.
Rarely, one man could define an era - but, in just 30 years Bill Gates’ Microsoft has transformed the way we life and work. He is a leader like no other - brilliant, passionate, visionary, ‘ruthless’, at the same time generous and humanistic. He was the wealthiest man in the world, yet he is giving most of it via charitable foundation. Technology community is going to miss Bill Gates as he finally retires this weekend. However, new era will begin with his and his wife philanthropic endeavours.
